Hi, I’m Linda.

I’m a registered and dedicated Clinical Psychologist here to create a safe and compassionate space for growth, healing and self-discovery.

Approach & Principles

Integrative Approach

I primarily work from a psychodynamic perspective which focuses on how our early experiences and unconscious mind significantly influence our present thoughts, feelings, behaviours and current challenges.

My training and experience with other modalities (narrative therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, supportive therapy) also allows me to work using an integrative approach. This ensures therapy is tailored to your unique needs and goals, providing the most effective and compassionate care.

Guiding Principles

In my practice, I hold four core values: authenticity, safety, empathy, and growth. I strive to create a space of authenticity, where you can feel comfortable being yourself without judgment. Your sense of safety is a priority; therefore, I am dedicated to providing a confidential and supportive environment where you can explore difficult emotions and experiences.  Empathy is at the heart of my approach, allowing me to connect with your unique perspective and understand your struggles. Finally, I am here to help foster your growth, and move towards a more fulfilling life.

“But part of getting to know yourself is to unknow yourself - to let go of the limiting stories you've told yourself about who you are so that you aren't trapped by them, so you can live your life and not the story you've been telling yourself about your life.” - Lori Gottlieb

Services & Specialities

Individual Therapy (Adolescents & Adults)

Individual therapy offers a safe and confidential space to explore a range experiences from everyday stressors to more persistent emotional and mental difficulties. It is a collaborative process where you can gain self-awareness, develop coping skills, and work towards personal growth and well-being.

Group Therapy

Group therapy creates a community for shared challenges and shared growth by addressing topics such as team cohesion, conflict resolution, school dynamics or academic support. These sessions provide a supportive space to develop effective communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

Areas of Interest

I provide therapy for a wide range of mental health issues and disorders, including mood, anxiety, trauma/stress, personality, substance use, eating/feeding, and sexual dysfunction disorders. I also offer support for concerns related to stress/burnout, relationship difficulties, life transitions, grief and loss, self-esteem, and personal growth. If you have questions about a particular concern or disorder, or if you're unsure whether I can help, please feel free to ask.

LGBTQIA+ Affirming Therapy

Whether exploring questions of self-discovery regarding gender and sexuality or addressing other life challenges, LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy is grounded in understanding the specific social and systemic realities faced by LGBTQIA+ people. Recognizing these realities, I am dedicated to providing supportive and affirming therapy, advocating for the well-being of LGBTQIA+ individuals.

Fees & FAQs

  • My rate for a 50 minute therapy session is R1200. This can be paid via EFT at the end of each session.

You may also pay using medical aid. With this option, I request that you pay me directly at the end of each session and then claim back from your medical aid scheme using the provided invoice.

  • I am available to see clients from Monday to Friday between 8:00 and 18:00. We can work together to find a time that works best for you.

Please note: I may be in session and unable to respond immediately to emails, calls, or texts. I will respond during standard working hours or as soon as possible.

  • You can email (lmkhizepsychologist@gmail.com), text or call (064 513 4982) to set up an appointment or request a call back here.

  • In our first few sessions, we'll focus on getting to know each other. We'll explore what brings you to therapy, discuss your goals, I'll explain how I work and we can discuss any concerns or questions you may have. It's a chance for you to share your story at your own pace, and for us to build a comfortable, trusting relationship.

  • I am fluent in English and isiZulu, allowing me to conduct therapy in these languages. I also have a basic understanding of isiXhosa, siSwati, Setswana, and Sesotho, and I am open to incorporating them into our sessions in ways that support effective communication. My goal is to create a space where clients feel comfortable expressing themselves in the languages that feel most natural to them.

  • Each therapy session is 50 minutes. The amount of sessions required will depend on your individual needs and the reasons you're seeking support. We'll work together to determine what approach and timeframe (brief or long-term) will be most effective for you, taking into account your specific circumstances and available resources.

  • Late Arrivals: If you expect to be late for your appointment, please inform me as soon as possible. Your appointment will be held, and you will have the remaining time of your session. Without notification, a 15-minute grace period will be observed. If you do not arrive within that time, the session will be marked as a missed appointment and charged accordingly.

Cancellation Policy: A full session fee will be charged for cancellations made less than 24 hours of the scheduled appointment. This policy is in place to allow for rescheduling and to ensure that the appointment time can be offered to another client. Missed sessions are also billed and are generally not reimbursed by medical aids. Please provide as much notice as possible for any unavoidable changes to your appointment.

  • It's important to know that emergency care is not offered within this practice. If you experience an emergency, please contact your medical doctor or go to the nearest emergency room, where a psychologist or psychiatrist can assist. You can also find support through these helplines:
